Abstract
Ballistic electron spectroscopy is used to measure the normal energy distribution of hot electrons generated by an electron injector utilizing an improved injector design. A triple barrier resonant tunneling diode acts as a narrow (View the MathML source) energy filter. An asymmetric energy distribution with its maximum on the high-energy side with a full-width at half-maximum of View the MathML source is derived. Using this electron injector the individual Wannier–Stark states in the first miniband of an undoped biased superlattice could be resolved up to an electric field of View the MathML source.
