Abstract :
Theoretical and experimental study of novel resonant tunneling structure laterally confined by a periodically modulated electric field are presented. Spatial potential distribution is created by a system of interlocked finger contacts. It is shown that the confinement in the system and the resonant conditions are determined by changes in the spatial potential distribution at a certain finger voltage. Applications of the device in a new kind of electronic and optoelectronic switchers are discussed.
