Abstract :
We present transport properties of various fullerene nanopeapods used as channels of field effect transistors (FET). C60 and C78 fullerenes and Gd@C82 and Dy@C82 metallofullerenes peapods FET show both p- and n-type ambipolar behavior. In case of C90-peapods, all devices have shown so far metallic properties. These novel electronic properties of the peapods can be explained by the so-called band-gap modulation originated from the encaging fullerenes and metallofullerenes in nanotubes.
