Abstract :
The dipole moment functions, μe(R), have been determined for the iodine E0g+–B0u+ and D0u+–X0g+ transitions over the regions R=0.31–0.48 and 0.305–0.45 nm, respectively, from the spectrally resolved emission of the E and D states. Single rovibrational levels of the E state have been pumped by optical–optical double resonance technique via the B state. Rovibrational levels of the D state have been populated in the collision-induced E→D transition under approximately single-collision conditions. The absolute values of the dipole moment functions have been deduced with use of the known Einstein coefficients for the E, vE=0 → B, vB and D, vD=0 → X, vX emissions. The D←X transition absorption coefficient at λ=203 nm has been measured, kI2=42±4 cm−1 atm−1, and the value of μeD–X(R)=6.1±0.3 D (R≈ReX=0.267 nm) has been obtained as well.
