Abstract :
This paper addresses the photomobility of O(1D) atom and the reactions with CF3I in an argon matrix. The O(1D) atoms were generated by O3 as a precursor with 266 nm photons, and its photomobility was testified via the occurrence of the reaction of O(1D) with CF3I located at a distance from the O3 precursor. Matrix isolation infrared spectroscopic observations provide a clear evidence that the translationally “hot” O(1D) atoms can migrate in an argon matrix at 11 K and react with CF3I molecules. CF3OI and carbonyl complex CF2O⋯IF are confirmed as primary products, which are formed from the insertion of O(1D) into C–I and C–F bonds of CF3I molecules, respectively.
