The roughness factor for polyatomic molecules from the shear viscosity coefficient Original Research Article

The translational-rotational coupling factor, or roughness factor, introduced by Chandler, has been evaluated for twenty five substances in the liquid range (between triple and critical points) from the viscosity coefficient along the saturation line. The influence of experimental data, simulation procedures and different choices for the hard sphere diameter have been included in our study. The results support the validity of this model.
