Abstract :
Photoelectron spectra of bromine cyanide have been recorded at a resolution better than 5 meV using He I excitation and at lower resolution using He II. The existing vibrational analyses of the X̃2Π and Ã2Σ states are extended and confirmed, and a new analysis is proposed for the B̃2Π state and its complementary emission spectrum. The spin-orbit splitting in the B̃2Π state is determined as 774 cm−1, in good agreement with the sum rule. Two hitherto unreported satellite states are located, one of which shows vibrational structure.
