On the determination of D00(CaBr) from translational energy threshold measurements Original Research Article

Time-of-flight chemiluminescence measurements under crossed beam conditions followed by a simulation analysis, has allowed us to determine the translational energy threshold for the Ca(3PJ) + HBr → CaBr(A2Π) + H reaction. Using this value and by means of energy balance relations, we have estimated the dissociation energy of the CaBr to be, D00(CaBr) = 337 ± 5 kJ mol−1. A comparison with previously reported values is presented, which helps to clarify the discrepancy between them.
