Modeling of optical pumping experiments in CO: II. Steady conditions Original Research Article

Results of continuous optical pumping experiments in CO-rare gas mixtures are presented. A kinetic modeling is carried out taking spatial non-uniformity, heat transfer, forced convection and molecular diffusion into account. The influence of spatial inhomogeneity is studied. It is found that kinetic calculations substantially overestimate vibrational populations in high levels if VE transfers are not taken into account.
