The density changes on cooling and heating of selected Pb–Sn alloys during the precipitation and dissolution of the β-Sn phase

The effect of ramp cooling and ramp heating on the density of Pb–Sn alloys containing 4, 8, 15, and 20 at.% Sn was measured in the temperature range between 190°C and ambient. It was found that the precipitation and dissolution of β-Sn and the ramp rate had a significant effect on the density of the alloys as a function of temperature.
