Abstract :
In this paper, the structure and electrochemical properties of the Ti1.0Zr0.2Cr0.4Ni0.8V0.8−xAlx (x=0.0,0.2,0.4 and 0.6) hydrogen storage alloys for nickel–metal hydride battery were investigated. All the studied alloys are composite of C14 Laves phase and TiNi phase. Al properly substituting V in alloys is effective to improving the high-rate discharge ability and cycle life. The relationship between high-rate discharge ability, the apparent diffusion coefficient D and apparent exchange current i0 was discussed. The increase of D and i0 is the main factor to improve HRD.
