Abstract :
ZnV2O6 powder was successfully synthesized by an effective and simple route-rheological phase reaction method and investigated as a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. The phase purity, structures, morphologies of the prepared powder were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), infrared (IR) spectroscopy and X-ray photo-electron spectrometry (XPS), respectively. The results show that the crystallinity becomes better with the increase in synthesis temperature. The charge–discharge experiments were performed to investigate the electrochemical properties of ZnV2O6 powder at a constant current density of 30 mA g−1 in a potential range of 2.0 and 3.6 V. The discharge capacity (288.7 mAh g−1) showed only 16.7% loss of the initial discharge capacity (347.4 mAh g−1) after 40 cycles. The data revealed that the brannerite structure of ZnV2O6 obtained at 550 °C was very stabile during the charge–discharge process.
