Abstract :
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) solution was mixed with solution of xanthated cellulose with different ratios and precipitated with acidic alcohol. The infrared spectra of these precipitated blends were investigated. The dielectric properties and ac-conductivity of these blends were also studied as a function of temperature range (20–100 °C) in the frequency range (100 Hz–5 MHz). The decrease in the dielectric constant ε′ was observed with the increase in the frequency due to dielectric dispersion, while there is increase in the dielectric constant was observed with increasing both PEG percent and temperature till 80 °C then decreases till 100 °C which related to phase change. The frequency–temperature dependent conductivity was also studied. The results showed that the conductivity increases with frequency. The results were interpreted in terms of electronic conduction.
