Abstract :
In the present study, roll bonding characteristics of commercial pure aluminum (AA1050) strips, such as bond strength and threshold deformation, in the presence of titanium hydride (TiH2) particles and without it, were investigated. In order to evaluate weld efficiency of the roll bonding process, peeling test was carried out. The results show that in the presence of TiH2 particles, bond strength and weld efficiency decreased for the some reduction deformation applied through roll bonding process. However, it is shown that by applying higher reduction in thickness, up to a new threshold value (about 33%, when 0.5 wt.% TiH2 powder was used), a perfect bond with high strength can be obtained.
