Abstract :
The laminar transport processes in a lid-driven square cavity filled with a water-saturated porous medium is presented in this numerical investigation. A stable thermal stratification configuration is considered by imposing a vertical temperature gradient. The general formulation of the momentum equation is used such that both the inertial and viscous effects are incorporated. The relevant momentum and energy characteristics of the porous system are identified with special consideration being given to the implications of the inertial effects. The Grashof number in this study was fixed at 104. A Nusselt number correlation is established based on the numerical results in the parametric domain of Da=0.001−0.1 and Ri=10−4−5.0.
