Abstract
Identification by thermal analysis for open-loop recycling of post-consumer waste polypropylene (PCW PP) was investigated. Thermal analysis such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry-derivative thermogravimetry (TG-DTG) for the identification of PCW PP was used. It is possible to select the appropriate material for the application of refrigerator plastics via the thermal identification from PCW PP. By mixing post-consumer waste impact-modified copolymer polypropylene (Impact-PP) and Impact-PP with small amount of filler (e.g. calcium carbonate (CaCO3)) in virgin Impact-PP, it is applicable to the refrigerator plastics with a good impact property at low temperature without downgrading for the open-loop recycling.
