Abstract
Results from characterisations of the absolute phase noise in a fibre laser modelocked, at 10.24 GHz, by a sapphireloaded cavity resonator oscillator, are reported. From the phase noise measured, an absolute timing jitter of ~2.48 and ~14.3 fs, respectively, for frequency-offset ((delta)f) ranges that spanned (delta)f=100 Hz to 1 MHz, and (delta)f=100 Hz to 40 MHz, were estimated.
