Efficiency of reliable multicast parity coding over complete download files

Forward error correction improves the performance of multicast transmissions to recover from lost packets. Common reliable multicast protocols divide the download into blocks for coding purposes; however, with present coding techniques and faster processors, it is possible to operate over complete download files. The considerable transmission performance gains of this technique are shown.
