Self-noise performance of zero-crossing and Gardner synchronisers applied to one/two-dimensional modulation schemes

Using two samples per symbol, the auto-covariance function of raised cosines is derived in closed form for one/twodimensional signal constellations. The result is applied to the computation of the self-noise variance for feedback symboltiming recovery with zero-crossing and Gardner detectors.
