Preparation of Orthogonal π-Conjugated Aryl Alkynes and Cyclophanes

A series of anthracene based orthogonal π-conjugated aryl alkynes was prepared using palladium-catalyzed couplings. Thia- and azacyclophanes were prepared from anthracene based orthogonal π-conjugated aryl alkynes.
