Two-electron phenolic oxidations using phenyliodonium dicarboxylates

Phenolic oxidations by PhI(OCOR)2 are reviewed. Consideration is given to the mechanisms of the reactions and to the differing consequences of inter- and intra-molecular nucleophilic attack on the intermediate phenyloxenium ions.
