A practical procedure for multisubstituted β-naphthols and their derivatives

A number of multisubstituted β-naphthols were efficiently prepared by intramolecular aldol condensation of readily available substituted benzyaldehydes, whose substituents were introduced easily by a selective alkylation on the benzylic position of the substrates.
