Recent developments in coefficient of friction measurements at the rail/wheel interface

Friction measurement in both the laboratory and field has been accomplished with a variety of dissimilar devices. However, little has been done to evaluate the data from these various devices to ensure comparable results. This study attempts to illuminate this issue, while exploring some of the broader implications of secondary factors that may influence these measurements.
