Abstract :
A novel approach to λ5-phosphinines has been discovered. Phosphonium salts bearing an alkyl group and the residue of β-dialkylaminocrotonic acid react with DMADMF affording λ5-phosphinines. A plausible mechanism of the reaction is offered.
