Abstract
This study investigates the wear and friction mechanism of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) reservoirs arranged in distinct patterns on coated surfaces. The coating used plasma spray process. Three patterns of PTFE reservoirs were used and three kinds of material were employed to make the pins. The testing was carried out using a reciprocating motion rig designed to create a pin-on-plate sliding contact configuration. The tests were carried out at a constant contact pressure of 10 MPa. With a stroke length of 30 mm, the average speed of the carriage to which the test plate was attached was 0.036 m/s.
