INFLUENCE OF FRICTION ON CONTACT STRENGTH AND ADAPTABILITY OF NOVIKOV GEAR DRIVES

We present the results of the solution of the three-dimensional contact problem for an elastic wedge with account for the friction forces and describe the application of these results to the analysis of the stress-strain state and the adaptability of Novikov gear drives. The studies provide the numerical values of the basic contact parameters - the dimensions and the configuration of the contact region (spot), the yielding of the surface under the action of the contact force) and the normal and effective stresses - making it possible to present the results in the form of guidelines for the engineering design of the Novikov gear drives.
