BASIC DIRECTIONS IN IMPROVING THE DESIGN OF METAL/CUTTING MACHINE-TOOLS

We survey the extensive changes of a qualitative nature that are taking place in machinetool designing and manufacturing, describe their new configurations and the new drives for the primary motion and the feeds, and the improvement of the technical characteristics of the machine tools. We point out the distinctive features of present-day machine-tool building.
