Synthesis and applications of sulfur-substituted cis-hexahydro-2-quinolinones

An efficient synthesis of sulfur-substituted cis-hexahydro-2-quinolinones has been achieved by an aza-Diels_Alder reaction of p-toluenesulfonyl isocyanate with a diene precursor derived from a bicyclic 3-sulfolene via ring-closing metathesis. Some synthetic tranformations have also been carried out.
