Abstract :
A facile and efficient reaction of α-azidomethyl aryl ketones and dialkyl but-2-ynedioate offers a new strategy for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted pyridines in mild condition. This method tolerates a range of functionality and a possible mechanism is proposed.
