Recent improvement of the BIOSEP® process for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment Original Research Article

Since 1993, Vivendi Water has been working on the BIOSEP® process, a technology for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. It combines, in one stage, a biological treatment with a membrane separation. Research efforts on the BIOSEP process have been focused on optimising both biological treatment and separation unit to enhance permeability, treated water quality and minimise sludge production and the overall treatment costs. This paper will describe in details the R&D efforts carried out, current applications and up-to-date information on the BIOSEP process.
