Abstract :
A dynamic model of a cyclic mechanism in which the line of action of the hinge reaction displaced significantly with respect to the translational pair guides is analyzed. It is shown that the resulting friction force may play a destabilizing role and induce nonstationary selfexcited vibration in the presence of "rigid" excitation. The efficiency of analytic estimates is confirmed by computer simulation. Engineering recommendations for eliminating undesirable dynamic modes, arc given.
