  • Abstract
This study was to investigate the performance of NF-RDM (Rotary Disk Membrane) module for the treatment of landfill leachate with high organic concentration. In the various TS concentrations, the optimal rotating speed was around 400 rpm. In the volume reduction test to minimize the concentrate quantity, the flux decreased by 43.4% (17.9 to 10.1 L/m2/h) during 20-fold volume reduction. The water qualities of permeate were suitable to drain away to river environment. The physical and chemical cleaning of fouled membrane could recover about 97% of the initial flux. High removal efficiency of CODcr, Color, T-P was obtained, but the removal rate of NH4+-N was very low being about 25%. Therefore, a RO process was adopted and 92% of NH4+-N was rejected by RO. NF-RDM system combined with a RO process appeared to be a suitable technology to treat landfill leachate without any biological and chemical treatments.
