Abstract :
The study aimed to investigate the relationship between students’ performance in General Physical Education Courses 1 and 2 and their satisfaction with extracurricular physical education classes in Islamic Azad University, Gorgan branch. The research sample was calculated to be 216 students using Krejcie and Morgan table. The inclusion criteria required the participants to have passed General Physical Education Courses 1 and 2 and participated in extracurricular sports programs in the campus. Thus, the sample was selected based on the availability of the subjects. The questionnaires were administered to every individual who fulfilled the two criteria and volunteered to participate in the study. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect the data, as there was no standardized scale to measure the relationship between the research variables. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was run to examine the normality of the data. Upon ensuring the normality of the data, Pearson correlation formula was used to examine the relationship between the two variables. Independent two-samples t test was run to compare the Physical Education 1 and 2 groups. SPSS 18 was used to do statistical analysis at P < 0.05 level of significance. The results showed a significant correlation between students’ performance in Physical Education 1 and their satisfaction with extracurricular physical education classes. Besides, there was a significant correlation between students’ performance in Physical Education 2 and their satisfaction with extracurricular physical education classes across all subscales and in total. Students in Physical Education 2 were more satisfied with extracurricular physical education classes comparing with students in Physical Education 1.
