Abstract :
The aim of present research has been the study of the relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance of faculty members of Islamic Azad universities of Shabestar in 2012-2013. This research from goal point of view is applicable and from information gathering method, is descriptive-correlation. The population in this research is included all faculty members of Islamic Azad universities of Shabestar that is Shabestar, Sofiyan, Khameneh, Tasouj branches (N=274) in 2012-2013 academic year. 193 participants were selected based on Morgan and Krejcie table using stratified random sampling method proportional to the participants. In the present research, data was collected through Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire of Cyber or sharing (1999) and Job Performance of Paterson (1922). The reliability of questionnaires was estimated through Coefficient Chronbachʹs alpha ?=0.81 for emotional intelligence (EI) and ?=0.79 for job performance (JP). Appropriate Descriptive and Inferential Statistic (Pearsonʹs correlation coefficient test, multi-variable regression Step by Step wise) were used for data analysis applying SPSS software. The results of research showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the emotional intelligence (EI) with its components and job performance (JP) of the faculty members except the components of self-regulation and social skills. Among emotional intelligence components, three of them, self-awareness, self-motivation and empathy were seen as appropriate anticipant for job performance of the faculty members (JPOFM). Also the secondary results of research showed that according to gender, marital status and age variables, emotional intelligence of the faculty members (JPOFM) of present research are almost equal and there is no significant difference.
