Abstract :
Stability of new graphite-uranyl-sulfate intercalation compounds was studied experimentally as a function of temperature and concentration. The action of uranyl-sulfuric acid aqueous solution leads to the formation of two mixed-phase intercalation products: the usual sulfate phase (di = 798 pm) and a new uranyl-sulfate phase (di = 855 pm). This latter phase is obtained alone after desorption of the sulfate phase, due to the lower thermal stability of the sulfate phase.
