Abstract :
Activated carbon fibers from different precursors and with different degrees of activation were used as catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene. Within each group, the fibers exhibited similar surface chemistries, so that the observed catalytic performances could be interpreted exclusively in terms of their textural properties. Analysis of the catalytic results highlighted common trends. In particular, the fibers with an average micropore width larger than 1.2 nm were found to be the best catalysts for this reaction.
