Abstract :
When a C-rich polycarbosilane (PCS) fiber is pyrolyzed in the presence of KOH, a porous carbon fiber was obtained after acid washing. During the process, silicon was almost completely eliminated and a large microporosity was formed. The porous carbon fibers have a surface area of 1100 m2/g and an average pore size of 2.80 nm. These materials are called “organic-carbide-derived carbons”.
