1.6 GHz space VLBI observation of 3C446 Original Research Article

We present results of 1.6 GHz HALCA observation of the high redshift quasar 3C446 in which the Australia Compact Array, Hartebeesthoek, Shanghai and Usuda ground VLBI stations have participated. The core of 3C446 is resolved, there is an extension to PA=−123°. We give a lower limit of 0.97 for the spectral index of the innermost region (S∼vα). A high resolution space VLBI image of the radio core and an interpretation of the observed structure is presented.
