Measured and predicted electron density at 600 KM of altitude in the low latitude region Original Research Article

Measurements of the electron density (N) obtained with Hinotori satellite at 600 km of altitude, are used to check the validity of IRI model to predict N at that altitude in the low latitude region. The results show that the best agreement among predictions and measurements is obtained near the magnetic equator. The disagreements observed for different cases suggest the need of additional studies on the topside profile modelling.
