Abstract :
We will demonstrate that the reliability of the solar energetic particle (SEP) flux calculation models is defined by the reliability of the experimental data that underlies the models. However, any unbiased comparison among the SEP flux monitoring data leads us to conclude that the particle fluxes of the same SEP events measured by different instruments flown on different satellites can differ by a few (sometimes tens of) times. We will discuss the reliability of SEP peak fluxes and fluences measured on the IMP-8, GOES-6,7,8,10, and Meteor satellites, as well as the results of comparing the spacecraft measurement data among each other and with the data on the neutron monitor-recorded ground level enhancements (GLE).
