Abstract
We introduce a mesoscopic model of phase segregation in binary fluids based on the Vlasov–Boltzmann equations and a particle dynamics computational scheme that is consistent with these equations. The numerical method is a combination of DSMC stochastic dynamics for the short range collisions and PIC deterministic evolution for the smooth long range interactions which allows the simulation of systems with millions of particles. This approach allows a detailed study of phase segregation kinetics in binary fluids and is very efficient even in the presence of externally imposed fields or hydrodynamical flows.
