Abstract
A new numerical approach to the solution of the steady one-dimensional nozzle flow has been developed. The main advantages of the new method consist in avoiding the discontinuity, and the consequent instability, present in the classical approach and in the simple criterion to find the transonic point. The former aspect is very important for flows with chemical reactions, where the transonic point does not coincide with the minimum of the nozzle section. Comparisons between the new and the classical method put in evidence the better performances of the new approach mainly in the solution of reacting flows.
