Abstract :
Relations between special mathematical functions and computational physics are discussed, needs and opportunities are presented, and a reference book with CD-ROM, the Atlas for Computing Mathematical Functions (Wiley, 1997), is described. Future advances in visualizing and computing special functions are outlined.
