Abstract :
The aim of this study was the prevalence of sports injuries and associated factors among male students. This study was a descriptive–sectional. The study population included all male student-athletes who participated in the thirtieth sports festival over Iran who participated in roping, athletics, swimming and gymnastics. 425 people injured athlete was selected as the sample (mean age 12.7±1.82 years, age range 6 to 15 years, and the history of sport 3.03±0.18 years). Injury report forms Fuller et al (2006) was used to collect data on injuries. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, median, posing, variance and standard deviation) With SPSS 19 software. Results showed that students had a history of athletic injuries, 55 % in track and field, 3.22% in roping, 5.13% of the gymnasts and 2.9% in swimming. The severity of sports injuries was 83.2% mild, 10.5% intermediate and 6.3% severe. Types of injury were 54% of the tendon-muscle, 32.3% bone-joint and 13.7% of the skin. Organs had been damaged, 44.5% of the lower limbs, 36.3% of an upper extremity and 19.2% of the trunk and spine. 36% of injuries due to the incorrect exercise, 30% due to lack of proper heating, 20% due to lack of adequate physical fitness and 14% were due to environmental conditions. The results showed that most sports injuries occur in Iran due to incorrect motion exercise and improper warm-up.
