Abstract
It has been investigated in computer simulations how the randomness (≙ irregularity) of the arrangement of particles in the glide plane affects the critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) of materials strengthened by shearable nano-scale particles. The result is that there is an overall increase of the CRSS with increasing degree of randomness, that is with decreasing regularity, but this increase is not monotonic.
