Catalytic synthesis of 2,6-dimethylphenol form methanol and cyclohexanol over magnesium oxide supported chromium catalysts Original Research Article

A one-step synthesis of 2,6-dimethylphenol from methanol and cyclohexanol over a magnesium oxide supported chromium catalyst was investigated at atmospheric pressure. The catalyst may be applicable to KA-oil (a mixture of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone) for the formation of 2,6-dimethylphenol using methanol as a methyl group source.
