Abstract
The present paper describes the synthesis, characterization and catalytic activity of a titanium silicalite (TS-2) prepared by a method based on the formation of peroxytitanates. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR, UV–Vis, SEM and catalytic measurements for n-hexane oxyfunctionalization. The influence of the synthesis procedure, the crystallization temperature and the SiO2/TiO2 molar ratio on the physicochemical properties of the products are discussed. The maximum incorporation of titanium observed was about a Ti/(Si+Ti) ratio of 0.04. TiO2 was not formed as can be seen by DR–UV–Vis spectroscopy. An increase in the crystallization temperature above 461 K leads to the formation of MFI phase as impurity. Furthermore the effect of the synthesis temperature on the crystallization curves and the kinetic parameters was also investigated.
