Friedel-Crafts acylation of aromatics catalysed by supported ionic liquids Original Research Article

Different ionic liquids were used as catalysts for Friedel-Crafts acylation reactions. Supported chloroferrate ionic liquids were tested in liquid and in gas phase reactions. The catalysts, consisting of the ionic liquid and charcoal as a carrier, are easy to prepare and show interesting catalytic properties. Comparisons between different ionic liquids in the liquid phase are presented, as well as reactions in the gas phase. Furthermore, possible reasons for the deactivation of the catalyst will be discussed.
