Abstract
In the reaction of silane with acetylene, MgO catalyzed the dehydrogenative coupling reaction to give ethynylsilane selectively, and ZrO2 and SiO2-Al2O3 catalyzed the hydrosilylation reaction to give vinylsilane. ZrO2 showed high catalytic activity in the hydrosilylation reaction between silane and ethylene to produce ethylsilane. The acid and base properties of the oxides determined the selectivities of the reactions.
