Abstract
The kinetics of NO–CO reaction over Pt/Al2O3 catalyst was investigated at 150 °C at steady-state and under periodic condition. The steady-state experiments showed that the reaction order was 0.9 with respect to NO concentration and −0.7 with respect to CO concentration. A mechanism which satisfied the results was proposed. A bang–bang operation was conducted for periodic condition, where a square wave of NO concentration and CO concentration was applied. A deformation of NO concentration cycling pattern was observed at the outlet of a flow reactor under the periodic operation. The deformed pattern was reasonably well simulated by calculation. Kinetic parameters in the proposed mechanism were estimated by fitting the calculated pattern to the experimental one. The estimated parameters could reproduce the steady-state performance, as well as the periodic operation performance.
